4-5TH GRADE WINTER RETREAT

This is a first ever!!!! A Kidz Ministry 4-5th Grade over night retreat!!!!  We’ll be going to a local hotel here in Lexington to eat lots of pizza, stay up late, swim and do a service project. The date will be Friday night (Mar 12) at 6:00pm to Saturday (Mar 13) at 2:00pm. The cost will be $40 each.  (Scholarships are available.) VOLUNTEER TRAINING TIP #018

If you volunteer in the Children’s Ministry, be aware that “little eyes” ARE watching you wherever you go and whatever you do. You are seen as a leader to them and they do notice the words you use and your actions. These could be your own kids in your house or kids around church. So, whether you’re posting on facebook or talking to friends, just keep in mind that we are to point others (especially kids) to Christ. We look forward to seeing you in the halls at Crossroads this weekend!

FIRE ESCAPE PLAN

“What would you do if you were sitting in church and an emergency happened?”  We ask that you NOT go with your instinct to get your child because by the time you get there, they won’t be! 

IF A FIRE ALARM SHOULD EVER GO OFF:  1.) Exit the auditorium at nearest exit,    2.) Meet your child (Andover Pre and Elem: DONATIONS BUILDING; Andover Nursery: HOUSE; Georgetown Children: FRONT OF BUILDING),    3.)   Teacher will need to check your child off the list,    4.) Do NOT get in car and leave until authorities give permission

SPECIAL NEEDS HELP

We have 2 families that would like to come to the 9:30 service but have autistic children. We are looking for someone to work alongside each of their sons so that the families can attend service and their kids can attend class as well. 1*2*3 TAKE 5

In order to simplify and bring consistency to our Children’s Ministry we have begun a 1-2-3 Take 5 system. You’ll see posters up around our Children’s areas to remind us that the Bible says there are two rules for living: 1. Love God and 2. Love Others (Matthew 22:37-40).  If a child is doing something that is not following these 2 rules, we will give them 3 chances to fix the behavior. If that is not effective, we will then ask them to “Take 5″ by sitting in “time out” and/or paging you from the adult service so they can sit with you. We even suggest implementing this at home. We’ll have extra posters on the Childrens’ Greeter Counter for you to hang on your fridge if you desire. This will bring a consistency between home and church. ALLERGIES

Please know that our staff has spent a lot of time minimizing the possibility of allergic reactions in our Children’s Ministry (Peanut Free environment, no brought in snacks, etc); however, at this time, we do allow some candy to be given as prizes but we also offer an alternative should there be dietary restrictions. Please always alert the volunteer in the classroom if there are any allergies or dietary notes for your child. Thanks for helping us be a safe place!
